Why would someone on myspace ask me to continue chatting with them on yahoo messenger? Are they trying to hack

I dont know why we should changre sites for the same one on one conversation. I am new to myspace, and not very computer literate anyway. I thought maybe they were trying to bait me or something. please give me your feedback.
