What can I do about the way my in-laws treat my husband?

From the time we first moved in together, my husband and I have gone to his parents' house every Sunday for dinner and to spend time together, usually watching a movie or playing games. In March, his younger brother moved away to college out of state, and now whenever we go over, his mother spends most of the time on the phone with the younger brother and ignoring us. His father usually leaves the room and does something else. Since his brother left, we are more or less ignored whenever we go over. We have even tried going less frequently, perhaps twice a month or once every three weeks, and this doesn't seem to make them want to value the time we spend with them any more. His mother either talks about the brother or spends all her time on the phone with him, and won't even sit through a movie with us without interrupting it for the phone call and never coming back to finish watching with us. This has irritated my husband - who has always been close to his family - to the point where he is talking about not going over there at all anymore. At the same time, I wonder if his mother is holding some grudge for something she perceives that we did or did not do to wrong her and is doing this on purpose - she is that kind of person. It's heartbreaking to watch, and I don't know what to do about it short of calling his mother up and saying, "Do you have an issue? Because you're pushing away your son." None of us are very confrontational and I don't want to my nose in and make things worse, but that family is already pretty shattered - his uncle hasn't spoken to his father in 18 years, for instance, and my mother-in-law is not on speaking terms with her sister - and I don't want to see it break apart worse, when at the time that I met my husband, they were the most important thing in his life. Help with potted herbs?

Bought 12 pots of herbs a week ago, for potting on, & all looked very healthy. Compost in post was damp. Have kept indoors & in original pots for time being. Some started to look a little limp, so checked under bottom of pots through drainage holes & compost seemed dry, plus some roots had come through. Stood pots in a little water to replenish, now they look worse! Herbs are mint, oregano, chives, parsley, basil & thyme. Is there anything I can do to resurrect them/dry out/help them flourish? He was obsessed with socks, which I thought was kind of funny at first, because he could play with them for hours on end and would always go into the laundry room to look for them. High water bill from running toilet, tenant or landlord responsible for bill?

Okay, I moved into a duplex last August and signed a year long lease. The lease agrees that we take care of the water bill which is split in half with our neighbors on the other side of the duplex. We've never had any problems, until now. My Landlord comes over with an $800 water bill (It's never been over $250) and starts checking our faucets and toilets. Turns out, the toilet in the back bathroom, which we never use because it's in bad shape, was slowly dripping. It could not be heard. He immediately turned off the water to that toilet and I explained to him that bathroom is never used and we had no way of knowing it was running. We have also had multiple plumbing issues since we moved in, which he sent his maintenance man out to fix. We've also had a leaky roof since we moved in which he is aware of and still hasn't gotten around to repairing. Our lease also ended a month ago and he hasn't yet asked us to resign, so technically we're not under contract with him as of right now and we are renting on a month to month basis. We have been excellent tenants. Never late on bills, we take care of our own stuff most of the time. IS MY LANDLORD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS WATER BILL because of his old plumbing and cheap toilet, or are we? He is asking us to foot the bill. What should I do? I am contemplating telling him that if he doesn't like the fact we don't want to pay the overage, we will put in our 31 day notice since we are no longer under contract and he can take us to court to try to get us to pay it but chances are it doesn't seem it will end up going in his favor... correct? My roomate left without notice to the landlord?

Our lease ended as of august 30, 2009. I was out of the country (vacation) from June 14 until August 15. I paid my rent and everything. And i filed a notice (letter of intent to vacate) to the landlord. When i came back from my vacation, i found out that my roommate has left the apartment (she moved out all her stuff). i checked with the apartment management, and they were shocked to learn that she moved out without notice. I contacted her that day and she did not answer her phone. So I had to clean the apartment all by myself (and i had a sprained ankle too!). She left the bathroom and kitchen filthy. i had to clean out the whole place including her bedroom. The apartment management sent me the security deposit check after 2 weeks. I had tried to get reach of her, but i could not. On October 30, she emailed me and demanded me to mail her her half of the deposit. She even called me a thief. And that day her brother called my dad and he threatened to take me to court if i did not pay her. i was baffled. Not once has she called me. Should I give her her deposit back? This is a psychological condition called Hypochondria. Hypochondriacs can often cause themselves to get sick (not with the perceived disease but by stress caused by constantly worrying about disease) which of course doesn't help at all with the fear of getting sick. Simply realizing that it's "all in your head" is the first step to psychological recovery and hence perceived physical recovery. With continued therapy you can work through it. Good luck.

With the most waterfalls of any Caribbean Island, and most of the island undeveloped, you can find adventure here. For really off the beaten path you could try Saba, a small island off St. Martin. It's not known for it's beaches, it's basically just a rock with a lot of charm. Truly it's adorable, clean, friendly and has world cl diving and snorkeling. Grenada, which is really three islands is also beautiful and not a place many find themselves at. There are no casinos, no huge night life but like the other islands in the chain of the Grenadines it has top notch beaches and wonderful reefs. Other islands in this chain are Mustique (rich and famous playground and Petite St. Vincent).

I have had experience with several cultures in both work and friendship. I find it funny that people do things that from my culture is very rude and unaceptable but in theirs it is okay and they say they are so polite in everything. Do you find this funny. you can't make that determination simply by watching this film. with all the cuts in film of the interviews its impossible to tell if that was even what the person being interviewed actually said. if you ask me, which you did, i would say that more research needs to be done and a more official doentary needs to be filmed. plus the fact that every time russo introduces himself he mentions that he is an award winning filmmaker, it makes me think he is either way to in love with himself or is trying to gain legitimacy for a bunch of crap that he has cut to make look real. i will definitely be looking into this more for myself but i highly doubt that the government would have got away with this for nearly 100 years without some sort of rebellion or social uprising. but hey maybe there was and the government has successfully removed it from the history books. like i said before, i'll be looking into this for myself.

Why do people home school there children?

Homeschooling allows great control of the curriculum. I know someone (a teacher) who has exceptional children, and has decided to homeschool them. They are more advanced than other children who go to public or private schools in our area, because they can advance at their own pace. They are, however, also very careful to ensure that they have proper socialization by having the kids in sports groups and extra curriculuar activities. They have a clroom setting by working with up to 30 other homeschooled children on science projects, etc. and by attending large bible study cles. I think it is very difficult to home school a child well, and I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone.

Someone on my course I think has a personality disorder and spent time in jail-how should I handle them?

This person I got to know back in 2006/2007 and he told me about a criminal past which involved prison in his youth. I am the only person that knows this on the course. I found them very charismatic and charming but also very competitive during this time and quite self-obsessed. I shared a house with this person from 2007 until a few months ago and their sellf-obsession, competitiveness became increasingly prominent and increasing arrogance. I believe this person is narcissistic and we kind of had a run-in which I tried to resolve by straight talking. I found this person was fine to my face but gradually it became obvious they were "splitting" within the house and among course mates this involves spreading quite nasty stories about me. Because of the way this has been done its quite difficult to pin down and confront as it is all indirect. Although I am not saying I don't have my faults I believe this person has quite major personality flaws including his past and the way that he influences people through his charisma. Is this typical of a personality type and if so how should I handle things better? I think things are going to be a bit icy for the final year of the course. I have kind of lost friends though this as he seems to have influenced people in a way that makes them loyal to him. I can categorically say that I have not tried to do the same to him.

I need help with audio driver downloads please!?

I have a sony vaio desktop vgc-rb30, orginally came with windows xp and crashed so I had windows xp pro installed and I now have no sound. I went to sony esupport and it was no help. I tried to download the driver they suggested and it tells that it can not find audio device info. I am also missing the icon for volume at the bottom of the screen. There is no audio device showing in my device manager under sounds and what not. This is all it shows: audio codecs, gameport for gamecard 3, legacy video capture devices, media control devices, video codecs, unimodem half duplex audio device. When I right click on any of these to update it says they are already updated. I dont know anything about these things. I read things about sound cards and dont know those either. Mexicans...why do you people keep bumping and brushing into me in public?

It is American etiquette and manners to not tresp on another person as this is rude and un-welcomed touching. White, black, asians, etc. have no problem with this. But whenever i'm in a place where there are hispanics, they always find a way to either bump into me or brush up against me. There have been many times when I got bumped or touched by several different hispanics in one setting or place. I have some hop hop cds that are the explicit versions, yet they will have a song(usually at the end of the cd), that has a clean version of a song. Example, Wu-tang 36 chambers has a song at the end that has all the swear words cut out while the rest of the cd doesnt. Also Juric 5 has the J5 cd and all of it is clean, there isnt a dirty version as far as i know. Same with a cd called Hip-hop for respect-it's all clean. In high school, why is the theater,band, or other type of arts students considered outcasts?

I was sort of into the arts in high school and I noticed a lot of the girls and guys even in the theatre cles and club felt outcasted by everyone else. Heck even I was told by one of the really weird ones, I'm an outcasts and since I was an in-betweener, misfit myself a couple of them sometimes saw me as an outcast (but that was after I bitched about one of the major theater/popular geeks (the popular one in the group, who was super fat and gay(after high school)) ually harred me and was a really mean, insecure guy. After a while of being there, I told Jordan that we should go home soon, but Jordan acted kind of resistant to that idea, and acted like he wanted to stay for a lot longer. no its not overdone. Singing the anthem is like an opening ceremony to the match, uniting the 2 teams and paying tribute to the country you are playing for and it gets the players and the fans excited and pumped for the game. I would feel alittle empty if they didnt sing the anthems before a match, thats just me though. But I'm sure any fan that feels pionate about the team they support will enjoy hearing their anthem..with the exception of Cuore azzurro lol

I am attempting to use (SPSS) logistic regression to calculate odds ratios and confidence intervals for a small data set (N=60). The outcome variable is dichotomous (0=no, 1=yes) but the predictor variables seem a bit problematic. For example in one model I attempted to predict the odds that study participants who make less than 10K have had a mammogram in the past year. There were 7 study participants who met this criteria out of 60. When I attempt to run the ysis no confidence interval is reported. What does this mean? In addition warning msg says that the constant has been removed from the ysis. I admit that the study is poorly designed with regard to the way questions are worded and coded but I thought I would at least be able to carry some simple yses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it does sell, I would need to bring to closing more than $400,000, that would include Realtor fees, because I owe much more than it is worth now. I do not have any of the $400,000 needed to bring to a closing. Only what I could borrow without collateral. I have a little money in a 401K, and that is it. I am paying living expenses for the family, costs to run the home etc. and bills from a previous business from a failed Michigan industry. I do not qualify for a bank short sale being told I cannot be approved for a short sale because of my income. The house is in need of much repair, so effects much including family health. When it sells, it will sell for land value. I do not have the money to fix it, so it cannot be leased out. I was also told by realtors not to put any money in the house even if possible, (which at this time is not possible) because of the falling prices and will only sell for land value in the end anyway. The taxes are approx. $20,000 a year and was told they will not be lowered, even though the home is worth land value, the city does not count it that way. If I find a home that is livable for my family, and start paying for that home, with a lease or what have you, - sellers in Michigan will do pretty much anything to sell, because their homes have been for sale for so long now, or even if we live in an apartment. If I find a place for my family that is livable and pay for those living expenses and then If I stop paying the mortgage on the current home, and stop paying property tax, will my wages be garnished for the unpaid mortgage? I have a 1989 Mercruiser sterndrive. Battery is charged to 14V. New spark plugs, spark plug wires, contacts and condenser, ignition coil. When I turn the ignition key the starter cranks fine but the engine just won't fire. Fuel pump is mechanical (not electric) and should work. Making the transition to milk with a lactose intolerant baby?

My son is ready to make the transition from formula to milk. He is on Isomil soy formula so when talking to the doctor and the nutritionist from WIC I kind of figured he would transition into either soy milk or lactose free milk. Well they both said that most babies grow out of their lactose sensitivity by age 1 and that I should start adding 1oz of whole milk to each of his bottles and increase it by another one the next day. Well we tried it and he ended up in the emergency room after the first bottle, because he couldn't stop projectile vomiting. I called the doctor twice yesterday and still have not been called back and I am basically stumped on what to do. I went back to formula and he seems perfectly fine. Should I try lactose free milk or what? He obviously is still sensitive to lactose.

I just found out my 17 year old cat has diabetes?

My 17 year old cat went to the vet today, the vet took a blood sample and told us that she has diabetes. We took her because she was peeing a really lot, and we didn't know what was wrong. We don't want to inject her with needles twice a day because she would hate it, and we don't want to put her through pain. So we are going to try and control it though diet. The vet gave us Purina DM to try. Will giving her this food help her? Will she stop peeing so much? Will she stay healthy? Can we still give her treats? I did research, but I still want to know more. I dont know that I would give up a 1st & 3rd for him though given the fact he does get knicked on occasion and misses too much time to pay that high a price for. Two guys you might want to consider drafting are Matt Forte (Bears) or Kevin Smith (Lions) as both will be given a huge chance to start and both teams will be real dedicated to running the rock. Those might be the guys that come out of this draft that end up being Pro- Bowlers in years to come and you wont need to spend 1st rounders on either. With L.T.
