Internet monitoring in the workplace?

at the hotel where i work, a new policy of staff internet usage monitoring was implemented last month. I use hotmail for personal emails, msn messenger for personal conversations, browse the internet and download music using uTorrent. A company nearby has an unsecured wireless network my computer picks up, am I right in thinking that if I connect to the other network my bosses will not be able to monitor my internet usage, either msn, downloads or emails?
