With Mexican cartels moving into US cities do Liberals still want keep the borders open?

I consider myself liberal, and I never wanted to keep the borders open. I just think it's impractical to try to track down and deport the millions of illegals already in the country. I think government should keep better security on the borders but offer leniency to the illegals so they come forward willingly. I think we should also legalize marijuana to make a big dent in the income of drug cartels. Hard drugs may have a more addicted consumer base, but none of them are as large as the consumer base for marijuana.
