Is there a way to make your hair grow longer?

In the 3rd grade, I had REALLY short hair. Then in the 4th grade, I had hair below my chest! But how? I was playing with my hair in the 3rd grade. Might that have lengthened my hair a bit? Now, in th grade, my hair is medium. What other techniques besides playing with my hair should I do?
